In an S2000, this noise is more noticeable since the transmission is between the seats instead of up front in the engine compartment. hi guys everytime i go past about 3,000rpm regardless of what gear until about 6,000rpm i get this buzzing noise as if metal is vibrating, rubbing against something and making a constant BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ sound it is very noticeable with the top up but a lot of the sound dies out when the top is down, or ive exceeded 6000rpm.
Clearance between transmission gears (backlash) is normal and sometimes audible.
